Research facility, working with large animals, is seeking an individual with a minimum of one year of veterinary technician experience to fill a part time position. Weekday hours are flexible however, weekend hours are mandatory. The ideal candidates must be responsible, reliable, and work as a team player within the laboratory.
Responsibilities include:
- Participate in research activities including but not limited to, study preparation, surgical assistance, animal care (pre and postoperative), specimen collection, and blood laboratory testing.
- Prepare all required instruments and equipment for surgical study and assure that equipment such as anesthesia machines, cardiac monitors, scopes, and breathing apparatus etc are in good working condition.
- Administer medication and fluids to the animals as prescribed by the attending veterinarian(s) and/or doctors.
- Measure and accurately document temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, blood flow, and any other hemodynamic data required for the study.
- Collect and label tissue and blood specimens for culture or microscopic examinations, diagnostic, or pathological analysis.
